Marketing Halifax Where to start

Why isn’t my Halifax business appearing on Google?

Usually because there is no page on your site about the thing being searched for, or because a competitor has built a better one. Those two account for most of the cases we see around Halifax, and both are fixable. Below are the six causes worth checking, in the order we check them, from the ones that take ten minutes to rule out to the ones that take months to put right. You will need Google Search Console, which is free, and about half an hour.

Is the website actually in Google at all?

Check that first, because a surprising number are not, or only partly. Type site: followed by your web address into Google and see what comes back. Then open Search Console and look at the pages report, which lists what Google has indexed and what it has excluded and why. A noindex tag left on from the build, a robots file blocking the whole site, or a new site nobody submitted are all common, and all are ten-minute fixes.

If the site is indexed and still invisible, the problem is what is on it.

Is there a page for the search you want to appear on?

If the only mention of a service is one line on a general services page, Google has nothing to rank. This is the single most common reason a Halifax business is missing for the searches it cares about. Someone typing a specific job into Google gets shown pages about that specific job, and a page that mentions twelve services in passing is about none of them.

The fix is a page per service, saying what it involves, who it is for, where you do it and what you have done before, with photographs of your own work. Bond Brickwork in Brighouse are the local proof: the site was planned around the commercial brickwork searches that matter to them, and it has held the top of Google for those searches for years.

Has a competitor built a page you have not?

Very often, yes, and it explains more Halifax rankings than any technical factor does. Search the phrase you want and look at the top ten. Count how many results are pages built for that exact service and place, and how many are general homepages that happen to mention it. If nobody has built the page, a good one of yours can rank within weeks. If four rivals have, you are in a contest that takes months and needs authority as well as content.

Either way, the count tells you what you are up against before you spend anything, and we run it before we recommend any search work.

Could the Google Business Profile be the problem?

If you are missing from the map results but present in the ordinary results underneath, yes, and the website is probably fine. The map pack is driven by the profile: its category, its address or service area, its reviews and how recently anything happened on it. A suspended profile, a duplicate created years ago by someone who has since left, or a category one step too vague will keep a well-run Halifax business out of the map entirely.

Claim it, correct it and use it. Then give it a page on the website to point at.

Is the website itself holding you back?

A slow site, an insecure one, one that is awkward on a phone, or one where the words live inside a script Google cannot read will be ranked below a plainer site that gets the basics right. Google publishes its own performance measures and reports them in Search Console, so you do not have to guess. Check the obvious too: is the page title the name of the service or just the company name, and is the town anywhere on the page?

Most sites built in the last few years pass these. Most sites built ten years ago do not.

What if everything checks out and you still do not appear?

Then it is authority and time, which means being mentioned, linked and reviewed by other real places. Google trusts a business more when the trade association lists it, the supplier names it, the local press quotes it and the customers keep reviewing it, and none of that can be faked. The same signals are what the AI assistants read when they decide who to recommend, so the work pays twice.

Be patient with this part and honest about it. Anyone promising a first-page ranking by a date is guessing.

Bond Brickwork

Business
Brickwork and masonry for the national housebuilders, run from Brighouse, four miles from our door, with sites on major residential developments across Yorkshire.
Problem
Housebuilders choosing a brickwork subcontractor want proof of scale and capability before they pick up the phone, and very little of Bond’s track record was visible online.
Work
Website, marketing channels and business systems, designed, built and managed as their long-term marketing partner, with the search work running since 2018 and our own drone photography of live sites.

At the top of Google for the commercial brickwork searches that count, and recommended by AI search when people ask.

RB Electrical

Business
R.B Electrical (Halifax) Limited, an electrical contractor based in Halifax, doing commercial and domestic work and EV charging installation as a Rolec and OZEV approved installer.
Problem
Good electricians are ten a penny in the search results, and a single services page gave RB no way to stand out for the specific jobs it wanted more of, EV charging among them.
Work
Brand, website, SEO, content and the ongoing marketing ever since. Each service got a page of its own with enough on it to rank on its own, and the site has kept growing as the business has.

An average of around two organic leads a week for five years, and roughly a 5:1 return on investment.

About Halizona

A Halifax marketing company, with Halifax in the name

Halizona is a marketing company based in Halifax, West Yorkshire, and the Hali in the name is this town. We work with established businesses that are good at what they do and want more of the right work: the right people finding them, trusting them and choosing them.

Websites, SEO, AI search, content, social media, photography, video and marketing strategy all come from the same small team. A website from one supplier, search from another and video from a third rarely add up to one clear message, which is why we keep them together.

Websites and digital marketing have been our trade for approaching 20 years. Today that means businesses across West Yorkshire and nearby areas, including Halifax, Huddersfield, Bradford, Leeds, Keighley and Skipton, most of them within half an hour of us, which is close enough to get on site and film the actual work.

Find you.Trust you.Choose you.

Help the right people find you. Give them genuine reasons to trust you. Make it easy for them to choose you.
